Clare Burnett is a painter, sculptor and site-specific artist whose artworks relate visually and conceptually to their surroundings. She undertakes permanent and temporary art commissions, residencies, exhibitions, projects and workshops, working alone and in collaboration. Her overall aim is to examine how minimal, abstract interventions can encourage people to turn their heads, take notice and be inspired by the places in which they live and work.

Clare has developed projects in a variety of private and public spaces: the street, both the Brompton and West Norwood cemeteries, White City, Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation and, most recently Leighton House Museum where she had a solo show throughout the house in 2011/12.

In 2012 Clare was elected Vice-President of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and is actively involved in its mission to support and promote art involving all aspects of three dimensions.

Of her Fine Art Practice, Clare says 'The aim of my work is to bring colour, shape and the painted surface into a moment of dynamic resolution, paring down my images to contain all that is essential. Working over sustained periods of time with indMdual pigments, I explore the shapes that a colour aligns itself with given a variety of constraints - proportion, scale and the surrounding space. I have recently made a painted shape to stand within a forest setting and would like to work more with coloured shapes in the landscape'.
